Sometimes pain is necessary for us to move on.

In being born, a baby goes through pain in the birthing canal as a part of coming into a new life. The baby’s participation in the experience 0f pain is quite active, since it helps push its way through the uterus. If it avoided pain, it could not be born. Pain during life , as in birth, can serve the purpose of shifting us to the next level of existence. But if we do not see it that way, and we don’t work our way through it, instead, we fight it or suppress it, refuse the change it brings, and sometimes bring on chronic illness. Change

Change is wonderful, scary, tempting, challenging, exciting, nerve wracking. Change is alot of things, but it is never easy. Even when we know that change is the best thing for us, we often stick to what we know. Not necessarily because we don’t want change but maybe it’s hard to do. This morning on a conference call someone said that successful people do the things that they don’t want to do and that unsuccessful people don’t. This rang so true to me. We may want change very much. But change sometimes means that we need to do those things that we don’t really want to do to make that change happen. We need to do the hard things. We need to do the things that take us out of our comfort zones. We need to do these things or we may never make the changes we want.
But what if we don’t want change and it is brought into our lives without warning. How do we deal with that? We do the hard thing again. We make the best out of it. We live with it. We learn to accept it and if we are lucky, we grow from it. Or we don’t. We make a choice.

Being sick helps us to stop and appreciate wellness and the world around you.

Usually when I begin to feel a little sick, I go to bed early and feel better the next morning. Recently, this remedy did not work and I was sick for over two weeks even having to cancel two days of clients. It was miserable. Even though you might just be sick for a little while, it’s as if you forget what it felt like to be well. You desire wellness so much. Yet when we are well, we are so busy that we don’t appreciate that which we so desired.
I think sometimes you become sick because your body is telling you to slow down, stop a minute and appreciate everything that surrounds you. When you are not well, all you can do is be still. It may not be fun but why not be grateful for this stillness and take a moment to reset. Remember how being sick feels and remember how much we desire wellness. And when we are well, be grateful for this wonderful gift.
